About Sarah

Sarah-Elizabeth Cloutier concentrates her practice in employment litigation and counseling, as well as workplace and Title IX investigations. In her over fifteen years of legal practice, Sarah has represented both employers and employees, giving her a nuanced view of employment matters and experience in a broad range of issues, from employment discrimination, reasonable accommodations for a disability, wrongful termination, retaliation, sexual harassment, and wage and hour matters, to the interpretation and enforcement of employment contracts, noncompete and nonsolicitation agreements.  Sarah has represented both employers and employees before the Massachusetts Commission Against Discrimination and the Equal Employment Opportunity Commission, as well as in litigation in state and federal courts. In addition to her employment experience, Sarah has worked on Title IX investigations and claims in schools and universities.  

Sarah emphasizes and focuses on preventive lawyering, providing practical advice and counseling to her clients with the goal of resolving disputes before they escalate to litigation.  She provides advice and training to businesses regarding their legal obligations and personnel practices, drafts personnel policies and manuals, and she has successfully negotiated scores of severance and employment agreements.

Sarah is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts and the state of Georgia, and prior to joining Kurker Paget, she worked with law firms in Massachusetts, Georgia, and New York.  She is a member of the Boston Bar Association (BBA) and USA 500, and she has been a presenter on employment topics at the MCLE, as well as a co-author of two chapters in the MCLE Massachusetts Employment Law manual.  

Sarah obtained her Juris Doctorate from Vermont Law School. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Middlebury College, where she co-captained the squash team and spent her junior year studying at the University of Edinburgh (Scotland). Sarah now lives outside of Boston with her husband, two children, and lovely dog.
